  • KENYA NETWORK OF CANCER ORGANIZATIONS(KENCO)



    Communication strategy development

    KENCO awarded the assignment to develop a communication strategy to LEAD-SPEAK-REACH after a competitive bid. The assignment involved understanding of the network and component organizations with a view to help them brand and raise awareness on the seriousness of cancer in Kenya in a united voice. Until then, individual organizations were running stand alone campaigns. The team understood the stakeholders by conducting an analysis through Key informant interviews with the board, member organizations, the secretariat and media. The three month assignment yielded fruit and after it launch the government soon established the National Cancer Institute through the Cancer Control Act. In 2019, KENCO featured in the inaugural board and have been instrumental in providing guidance on creating awareness on cancer control which is the a key mandate for the institute.

    Curriculum design & delivery

    We have provided media and communication support to the ministry through the Foreign Service Institute. The assignment involved the design and delivery of a curriculum for media and communication to boost the stakeholder engagement of diplomats and ministry officials. The assignment included training, follow up and curriculum design. Our team built media engagement capacity, helped diplomats understand the role of non verbal communication in negotiations and projecting strength in voice and presentations.

    Communication plan development

    INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF KENYA requested LEAD SPEAK REACH to help craft a communication plan for their non teaching staff who front face with the key stakeholders(students) in their every day interactions; Our response involved a skills building sessions, key informant interviews, group building and hel in articulating key messages in the various stations foe the different members of staff. The response was the the team felt more confident dealing with the students and could understand how to deal with the different personalities while remaining committed to the brand and values of ISK.

    Communication Support

    We have worked with the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade team supporting communication for the activities of the awards including training, documentation, stakeholder management and messaging for the last five years.

    Communication strategies design and delivery

    STEPS AHEAD were named the implementers of the SOURCE programme funded by the America Cancer Society (ACS). The Source programme is a capacity building initiative to help organizations involved in cancer control. The LEAD SPEAK REACH team were name technical advisors in the external relationships and partnerships segment. This assignment involved the design and delivery of communication strategies for each of the 20 participating organizations. The assignment involved understanding each of the key stakeholders, key messages and the capacity of each organization to implement the communication strategy.
